Great food. Reasonable portions that you can actually finish. Need to make reservation 2 weeks in advance to secure seating. Went for dinner as that time works better for me. Student servers were uneven, 2 times out of 3 the service was lacking, and server seem unsure of themselves. Once was offered dessert before entree even arrived. However the 1 time the server, Donna, was outstanding. Service was as fine as I have ever experienced as if you were at a top notch restaurant, with proper etiquette. Food has always been great with no major complaints. These are students practicing so keep that in mind. Some can't even pronounce the food on the menu... don't know if it is poor preparation or what because you would think the server would know the menu (its a small menu, different each week with different theme). But with the proper mindset, it is a very good experience. They do offer ice tea or hot tea in addition to ice water for beverage choice... 2 times out of 3 it wasn't offered... the 1 time it was again was the excellent server Donna.

It was a pleasure to dine at the Casola Dining Room. It's a lovely room with great ambiance with hope in the air. The students are friendly and make more of an effort than some of those who are toiling away in some area restaurants. Having been a student (many moons ago) in the same culinary classes at SCCC, it was wonderful to try their offerings.
Tonights menu selections of appetizers, entrees and desserts were from Provence. It started with a choice of Vegetable Soup with Pistou (basil and garlic like pesto without pine nuts), Nicoise Salad or a Provencal Vegetable Tart. I chose the Vegetable Tart. I will tell you that the tart filling of diced vegetables (tomatoes, zucchini and onions) only complimented the delicious flaky and light tart. Kudos! I selected for dinner the trio of lamb chops which also had a medley of diced vegetables. (Other selections available were the Chicken Provencale, Bouillabaisse, and Grilled Ratatouille with Israeli Cous Cous.) Being a fan of both lamb and seafood, the decision of what to have for dinner was difficult. I went with the landlubbers lamb. It was delicious, a wonderful dark pink (not totally rare and cold, but lovely warm and juicy) and tasty chops.
Last but not least were 3 choices of desserts: Petite Four Assortment with Raspberry Sorbet, Chocolate Pot de Creme and a Pear Almond Tart.
Again, difficult to decide but when with the Chocolate Pot de Creme. Very delicious smooth dark chocolate topped with whipped cream and a lovely decorative chocolate swirl with a small spoon shaped cookie!
All in all, a wonderful meal from the future chefs in the industry. My only comment would be the students could have a little more tutoring on proper pronunciations and ingredients of dishes being served. -

it is impossible to give Casola Dining Room less than five stars, even though the potatoes in the bouillabaisse were undercooked and my soup spoon was not to be found. You are getting a good meal at a great price (currently $16, plus a scholarship surcharge at dinnertime), you will be served like royalty, and you are making an investment in a quality dining experience for generations to come.
A few pointers:
--Call two weeks in advance of the date you want to eat and throw yourself on the mercy of the chef du reservations. Online booking is theoretically available but not currently working.
--Arrive early. Parking is difficult in the SCCC lot.
--Don't go in the big door that says "Casola Dining Hall". Instead veer to the left, enter the building, go up a flight of stairs.,
--There are two lunch seatings, 12 and 12:30. Take the later one, then arrive early so you can watch the students at work through the plate glass window.
--Check out the boucherie and bakery if they are open (the boucherie currently closes at 12:30 so you'll need to visit before your meal). Good products and great prices.
Overall this is a great program and a bonanza for local diners. Enjoy! -

Be prepared for and awesome experience! The students cook and serve all the food, prices are very reasonable for the quality. Each week features a different region of the US or the world (depending on the semester)
You must make a reservation for this place because they all fill up way in advanced, this place is a well kept secret!
The meals are a flat rate, you choose an appetizer, main course and dessert off the menu.
Since this is a college and the waiters are learning there is no tipping. Also byob if you want alcohol!
Check out the bakery and butcher right down the hall! (you may want to call ahead to find out their hours because they may be closed by the time your meal is over)
Parking can be difficult, so get there a little early in case the dining room/faculty spots are all taken. -

This is a joke. It is impossible to access the reservation site. They claim you can make a reservation at 8:00 AM two weeks before the date. At exactly 8AM on the prescribed date the site cannot be entered. I've tried this for weeks to no avail. Don't waste your time.
